Complimentary Family Portraits

In 2013, I began my journey as a professional family photographer. I started out making pretty posed pictures in the park for all of the wonderful families who fell in love with my style. Over the years, that obviously evolved into my true passion, which is my documentary family photography. It’s truly where my heart lies! But of course, I can appreciate a beautifully posed and more traditional portrait with everyone looking and smiling at the camera, and I know that others appreciate and want them of their family as well. So this year I have decided to do a little something special for my clients. I am offering a separate complimentary 20 minute family portrait session that will include 3 digital images of your choosing when you book a Half or Full Day In The Life (DITL) Session, or any Family Film Session. After your session, you will have your choice of either a Fall session or a Spring session. That's right, I am making it to where you can have the best of both worlds!

What are the benefits to doing it this way? Well, I'm glad you asked. I've shared 4 of those benefits below to give you some insight.

1. Your children will already know me from our Day In The Life Session.

Whether you do the Half DITL, the Full DITL, or either of the Family Film options, I will be spending anywhere between 4-12 hours with you and your family, allowing everyone, especially your children, to gain a higher level of comfort with me taking their photos. We likely won't need very much of a warm up period at the start of the portrait session in the Fall after we've spent a large portion of another day together earlier in the year.

2. You will have my undivided attention

What do I mean by that? Well, last year I did a couple of Documentary Sessions where we either started or ended our session with a brief portrait session. I'll be honest with you, it's not as easy as you might think to switch between styles of photography. When I go from being completely hands off, and allowing things to simply unfold in documentary mode, to then needing to give direction for portraits, it calls for a complete shift in mindset. One that's not always easily done. Believe me when I say, this option which allows me to be mentally prepared for each individual style on separate dates is the absolute best way for you to get the best from me! Which is exactly what I want you to get every time.

3. No outfit changes!!

The dress code (if you want to call it that) for a documentary session tends to be quite different from that of a portrait session. Clients tend to wear what they would normally wear in their every day lives for their DITL sessions, while in a portrait session they typically wear the more coordinated and polished outfits. By separating the styles into two sessions, it allows for you to only need one outfit choice for each time we are together. It also allows for the freedom to get messy, or run through a sprinkler during your DITL or Film session where the only changes in outfits are a swim suit, or to get out of some extra muddy clothes.

4. Two sessions, one price

You will have your Day In The Life session to preserve those beautiful, natural and authentic memories of what truly make up your family during one session, and you will also receive the traditional Fall or Spring family portraits during the other session. Your family's extraordinary everyday life will be fully documented through either film or photography, and you will have a second session in the Fall or Spring, whichever works best, that allows for the more traditional lifestyle portraits.
